Companies are trying their best to market to an audience from every angle. Resulting in there being too much marketing content floating around. The overabundance of marketing is causing there to be clutter leaving the prospect/client ignoring communication from you.

Two Reasons a Personalized Experience is Preferred

Are you wondering how not to be a part of the clutter? The answer is to focus on creating content more personalized towards the prospect/client. The prospect/client is craving a personalized experience. When communication is placed in front of the prospect/client, they want to feel as though their interests and preferences were considered.

93% of companies with an advanced personalization strategy saw revenue growth. (Medium)

A study from the University of Texas states that the prospect/client prefers personalized experience for two reasons “desire for control and information overload.” When something is tailored to the prospect/client, they feel as though they are in control. When presented with personalized content, the prospect/client does not have to sort through information. They are given the information they wanted to receive. The prospect/client is more likely to want to engage in the information relevant to them.

The “Cocktail Party Effect”

The “cocktail party effect” is often referred to when discussing the psychology behind personalized marketing. If you were at a party with many people having their own conversations, you might be tuning out a lot of the noise around you. Then if you hear something of interest to you or your name, you are likely to be now listening.

Remember that a person’s name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language. (Dale Carnegie)

When someone hears their name, a unique reaction takes place in the brain. The same goes for when someone’s name is featured in an advertisement. Seeing one’s name makes the prospect/client stop and take a look at what is being said and in turn your company has gained attention.
